Agnimitra Paul Secures Dominant Victory in Asansol South, Targets TMC Leadership

Amrita Das, Asansol - BJP candidate Agnimitra Paul registered a resounding victory in the Asansol South Assembly constituency, defeating her nearest rival, Trinamool Congress candidate Tapas Banerjee, by a margin of 40,839 votes. With this win, Agnimitra Paul has been elected as MLA from Asansol South for the second consecutive term.

According to the election results, Agnimitra Paul secured 119,582 votes, while Tapas Banerjee received 78,743 votes. The BJP maintained a strong lead from the beginning, which eventually turned into a decisive victory.

After receiving her victory certificate, Agnimitra Paul addressed the media and took a dig at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. Referring to the issue of DJ music, she remarked, “See how the people of Bengal have played the DJ for you.”

She also claimed that alleged injustices during the 15 years of Trinamool Congress rule would be investigated. In her words, “All files, including the Abhaya case, will be reopened.”

Additionally, the newly elected MLA emphasized development, stating that along with the overall progress of Bengal, special focus would be given to the comprehensive development of Asansol South.
